1) 1 Smallcap (If SIP amount is higher than 2 SC are good with different investment philosophy and no or very less portfolio overlap)
2) 1 Midcap
3) 1 Flexicap or ELSS (If want to get benifit of 80C; ELSS is mostly similar to Flexicap)
This is enough for fairly diversified Portfolio. Anything more than this is just redundant and has no sense. Period.

Can some one help me to choose right mutual funds for investment? I have already invested 10 lakhs in 8 Mutual fund but after a year returns are less than one percent of my 18000 SIP. Lagta hai funds jyada aur galat select Ho gye, I am high risk high return type of portfolio taker but not performing upto the mark. Below are the funds details per month:
