I love this but where are you getting your whole chicken from bc where I’m at (USA Ca) a whole chicken (outside of Costcos rotisserie) coasts 15-20 dollars while a 4-5 pack of chicken breasts coasts 6-10 dollars
This was always the norm back in the day no one wasted anything just make sure you wash your veg properly before you use or freeze… full of nasty pesticides 👍🏻
I am the type of person that likes to save money, but seriously, kitchen tips like this are less about savings and more about increased quality of food. I’ve ran the numbers on a lot of this and you’ll probably surpass your entire savings from this in a year by accidentally leaving a pen in the dryer and ruining one pair of work pants.
I agree with everything but the veggie scraps one. If you try to actually make stock with only those scraps, it will taste like dirt and look muddy and dull compared to the normal one. There's a reason we throw scraps out/compost them. Maybe if you add them to clean fresh veggies it won't be as bad, but at that point, why use them at all.
I don't know about you, but i do not have enough space in my freeze for something like this. All rich fancy people these days. All have freezers, toilets and hot water.
Make sure not to add any cruciferous veggies into your scrap pile for stock. Simmering vegetables like brussel, broccoli or kale for long periods of time like any full flavored stock will need will end up making the whole thing incredibly bitter and unpleasant.
I recently made this mistake after saving up 10lbs worth of bones and veggie scraps and included brussel ends and leaves. It turned the stock from a golden and luscious to a dark green baby poop color that wasn't very palatable, and was super disappointing… 😢🤦🏾♀️
Piggybacking on cutting your own pineapple – you can take the core and the rind of the pineapple, and make tepache at home – a delicious, healthful fermented drink that only requires those scraps, plus water, cinnamon, brown sugar, and 36 hours in an airtight room temperature container.

Don't use onion skins for stocks and broths though. They give of a disgustingly bitter flavour.
Don't do the vegetable soups with peels it contains pesticides

It takes you 10 minutes to cut up a pineapple
And speaking of chicken, we can give what is left after we make the stock to our chicken!
Lol always makes me feel better when common sense is sold as a tip. I have long lose hope for humanity. Your parents were sub par.
This is the way I learned to cook…..60 years ago!
well stealing is a pretty good way to save money
I've never thought of freezing the scraps.
