Might actually be better off with credit card. Banks will usually cover any fraudulent transactions if it's stolen. If you lose your cash, it's gone. DO NOT BRING A DEBIT CARD
Should I bring my debit/ credit card/wallet in general? or should I leave them home? If I need to see my family, and have to pay for my own transportation I'd have no way to pay for it. Since I'd need to go pick up my cards, since they won't be able to go to my graduation. Based on my situation, I feel like bringing my cards/wallet is my best option. What would you suggest?
Not sure if the Army does it, but if you go to bootcamp (USMC), you will be required to purchase hygiene, cleaning, and other items for the Platoon Whiskey Locker, spending about $20.
Hey Ericka!! I love the basic training videos you put out! And I have one request for your next video. Do you think you can demonstrate the basic positions you need to know for basic training like Attention, Parade Rest (show it from the front view and rear view), and the facing movements? I think it would go really well with your series and it would give aspiring young soldiers a small guide on the basic standing positions. If you can do this, can you record yourself from a vertical perspective capturing your whole body so we can see everything that happens in each movement throughout the whole body. Thank you so much for hearing me out and I hope you can do this! Thank you for your service as well!!
I don't know how it is now, but in the 90's I wish I'd brought about $100 (as much as fits in a soap container, empty make-up compact, or a toothbrush holder, etc that looks normal going into the bathroom stall with you in your shower bag) or a debit card (which fits in your hat or your shoe). There were practical things my recruiter didn't tell me to bring, like shoe polish, a travel iron, and secret deodorant (in summer the deodorant I brought did not hold up). Also, there were things that are only sold at the PX at a training base like a teddy bear dressed like a drill instructor, or other Army souvenirs (things you buy while still at intake and send home before basic when you have to carry it all). Just a side note, USPS is worth twice the shipping price they charge to send things if you have someone who will hold them and/or ship them to you when you need them. For instance, shoes or civilian clothes you don't want to carry before they are put in storage. When we got to base some people were at intake less than 24 hours and others stayed more than 72 and had lots of time to be tourists on base before basic (think paperwork, pictures (do bring at least bare minimum make-up for picture day!), maybe a hair cut, trip to the PX, church and a movie on base if it's the weekend, etc. Money isn't strictly necessary, but it sure comes in handy. Just don't bring more than you can afford to spend or lose.

Can u do a video on basic information about being deployed? Love your videos and thank u for your service.
Only buy essentials at PX. Do not purchase any " I want this…." items
